A habit is a learned pattern of behavior that is repeated so often that it becomes automatic.
As I work more to build up my Personal Planner, I need to pay attention to my regular tasks I do every day. This has take me to look at my daily routine in a different way.
Most of the things I do, I do them automatically, they are my daily habits, whether they are good or bad, I keep doing them.
Working to build up my Personal Planner, is becoming a habit, instead of making notes on any paper, set it aside and forget about it later, now I have some white paper pages on my Personal planner, this allows me to take notes for my online business, mark with color what is more important and pay attention to what I now write down.
At the beginning of the year, I read some great articles about making resolutions, why they are good for some people while some people doesn’t make them at all. I also read about a better idea is to set some Goals to reach during this year.
For most of the people, both can be good ideas to set at the beginning of the year, then after a few weeks or maybe a few days, both resolutions and goals can vanish in the air, and just a few will succeed on it at the end of the year.
Then is when I began to read about Habits,
- If you are happy in your life, it’s because of your habits, let’s say you practice gratitude, you pay attention to simple things in life, you are happy with what you already have in your life.
- If you are a successful person, it’s also because of your habits, let’s talk here about being successful on your job, you wake early to be on time on your job, you focus yourself on the tasks you need to do while you are at your job, every day or week you set your to do list at work and you work on them.
Yes, there are good and bad Habits.
I wish I only have good habits, but that is not true, there are bad habits and we all know, here are some examples of bad habits.
- watch too much TV
- eating a not healthy diet
- no exercise
- complaining about everything
- buying everything with a credit card
And some examples of good habits
- eat a healthy diet
- be grateful
- work, make money and buy what we need
How can I get more good habits into my life?
Once you identify a bad habit, you need to pay attention to the opposite action to do or make, to get the good habit to your life.
Watching too much TV, the good habit could be, read or do exercise
Eating a bad diet, the good habit could be, starting to have a healthier diet, with more vegetables and fruits.
How to change bad habits for positive ones.
Once you know you have a bad habit, it’s important to identify what triggers it. What is the situation that makes you to make this bad habit, lets talk about, having a bad diet, a trigger could be, feeling hungry and just think about cookies or candies.
Now that you had identify your trigger, work on the changes you want to make, lets keep talking on the same example about feeling hungry, if you get healthy food and healthy snacks when you go to the groceries store, anytime you feel hungry, you will find a healthy option to have.
Work on every habit you want to make a change for one month, and try to be the more consistent that you can, every time you have a trigger, do the positive habit instead the bad one, do this on every habit you want to change for at least one month. If you fail, for any reason, start again to work on the good habit for at least one month.
